Long ago computers were strange and exotic room-sized machines.Today you might have four or five in ur pockets!,today we take a look at the best of tech over the last 30 years. 1978 APPLE II The apple II used to cost only $3,000 when it was launched-unbelievable reasonable for that time   1979 FAX MACHINE The first fax machines was used by the post office in Europe.Each device was quite huge in the begining.  SONY WALKMAN Sony Launched the first walkman into the market.By 2004,more than 200 million devices were sold.
 1980 MS-DOS The first version of the MS DOS operating system was launched.It was first developed for 8086 PCs.  DONKEY KONG Donkey Kong became one of the most the most successful video game created by Nitendo,even before Mario made its debut.  1981 C64 The Commodore 64 was lovingly known as the "bread box" to its 22 million dedicated users.  286 PROCESSOR Intel put the 80286 processor on the market.
 1982-1983 APPLE MACHINTOSH The "Mac" set new standards for user interfaces and computer graphics.  IBM PC AT The AT(Advanced Technology) form factor which became the standard for computer motherboards,cabinets and peripherals after many years to come. CD-ROM The first drives came out this year and were unbelievably expensive.  1986-1987 AMIGA 500 The Amiga 500 was a best-selling computer which even common people could afford due to its low price.It was popular for gaming because of its picture and sound quality.  GAMEBOY Nintendo made gaming portable with its small handheld device.Over 200 million gameboy sold worldwide.  TROJAN HORSES The first Trojan horse hides all files and extorts$378 from victims to restore them.  1989 LINUX KERNEL Linus Torvalds developed the first version of the OS kernel,initially known as "Freax".  1990-1991 DIGITAL CAMERA The Kodak DCS-100 was launched, It had a resolution of 1.3MP.  1992 IBM THINKPAD The reputation of rock-solid construction lasts even after the trademark has been sold to Chinese firm Lenovo.
 BREAKTHROUGH OF THE INTERNET The first provider, EUnet,started in Germany:543 million computers are online today.  1993 PENTIUM PROCESSOR Instead of using x86 numbering codes,Intel gives its CPU a brand name.  CF CARD Upto 64GB can be saved onto these cards but they started out at more modest size.  1994 WINDOWS 95 & INTERNET EXPLORER MS ushered in a whole new era for operating systems.  PLAYSTATION Sony has now sold more than 100 million Playstation consoles.  1995 FLASH The animation software which revolutionized graphics on the web would later be sold to Adobe.  SONY VAIO Stylish and powerful,Sony became a dominant laptop maker beacuse of these devices.  1996-1997 TAMAGOTCHI The hype around these small egg shaped toys spread from Japan to all corners of the world.  DEEP BLUE IBM's supercomputer defeatsds the reigning human world chess champ,Gary Kasparov.
 WINAMP This small and powerful media play er propels the early growth of MP3 file circulation.  1998 iMAC Apple sets new standards in design with its colorful and trendy PCs.  WINDOWS 98 Crashes with a blue screen in front of the world's press during its launch demo at CES,Las Vegas.  1999 AIBO Sony's cyberpet communicates and interacts with human beings.  2000 PENTIUM 4 Intel sets off new millennium with a chip that contained 42 million transistors.  Windows XP The MS-DOS base was finally laid to rest with this release.  SD CARD Additional functions aimed at restricting file copying gave this memory standard its name.
 2001-2002 SECOND LIFE More than 11 million users have built a second virtual identity for themselves knoiw.  BLUETOOTH The name was inspired by vikings,this technology is widely known today.  2003 ITUNES Apple simplified the process of online purchasing with its itunes music store.  SKYPE Phone calls can be made for free over the internet,thanks to VOIP  2004 BLOGS Internet blogs become mainstream,everyone seems to have one,and the "Blog" becomes word of the year.  NINTENDO DS Completely new gaming concepts are possible thanks to touchscreens,Wi-Fi and a microphone.  2005 NINTENDO Wii Motion-sensitive controllers allows user to deeply immerse in the gaming world.  YOUTUBE This garage startup company would be brought over by Google for $1.6 billion   2007-2008 WINDOWS VISTA With plenty of graphical flourishes,but too many headaches for users,Vista is still not much of a sucess.  IPHONE 3G With music,video and cellphone featured in a single,innovative device,this apple gadget makes surfing the Internet almost as rich as using a desktop PC,even on the move.  NETBOOKS Asus launches the EeePC thrusting the mini laptops with power-saving CPUs and low prices into the limelight.
